Two Month Check Up

Yesterday was Brody's 2 month check up. The update on his stats: He weighed in at 11 lb, 11 oz....for those of you figuring, you are correct. He has gained almost a pound since our last appt a week and a half ago. His weight puts him in the 50th percentile. He is 22.25 inches long (25th percentile) and his head is 42 cm (90th percentile). I don't know why I make babies with such huge heads. I am certain it is to accommodate their big brains. Brody seems to be following the same path as his big brother. Brayden was in the same percentiles (except his head was in the 98th percentile.) Anyway, the point is he is growing.
He had to have 4 shots yesterday. Uggh....I don't know why they put Mothers through this torture. So this time I had a plan...I started slathering Emla cream on Brody's little legs about 3 hours before his appointment. For those of you familiar with Emla cream, it only takes 30 minutes to work, but my logic was the longer I had it on, the more numb he would be. Being a nurse I should have known better....being a Mommy sometimes gets in the way of all nursing knowledge/logic. Nevertheless, I continued to reapply and reapply until we arrived at the pediatricians office. Then we had to wait....for about an hour to see the pediatrician. After seeing the pediatrician, the nurse came in to give Brody his shots. Unfortunately I had already wiped the area of Emla application clean, so she missed. Poor little Brody felt at least one of the four. He screamed and cried...Mommy followed his lead. His next appointment is in June, and I think Daddy should have the honor. (Yea, right, like I'm gonna let him go without me.)
Other weekend news:
We had a great weekend in Johnson City. Brayden and Scott went to the race on Saturday. They had a good time - the highlights for Brayden were riding on the school bus (shuttle bus) and the nap he started about 10 laps into the race. They did not make it through the entire race, but had a good time anyway. Brody, Nan, and I went wedding dress shopping with Kathleen while the big boys were racing. Kathleen is going to be a beautiful bride. I can't wait to see which dress she picks.
On Sunday, Scott and I went to the race. It was super-super hot. We were on the 4th row so it was even hotter down next to the track where all the hot air from the cars was blowing. I got fried by the sun. Yes indeed, I have an oh-so-stylish farmers tan. We had a great time. I wasn't sure how it would be to leave my boys for that long, but it worked out fine. Nan did a great job taking care of them. I knew she would.
