Mama Knows Best

He's done it! (The exclamation point is not written in enthusiasm.)

Today, Scott and I went to eat lunch with Brayden. Pap kept Brody while we went for some special Mom, Dad and Brayden time. When we arrived back home, Brody was asleep on the couch. I moved him to his bed, but he woke up. He started crying, but I hoped when I laid him down, he would go back to sleep.

Um, no. Thank you. But no.

He cried for about 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, I heard silence. Then his cries became very insistent, "MOMMY! DADDY! MOMMY! DADDY!" He sounded scared out of his pants, so I decided to go in.

The child was hanging from the side of his bed. Just to be perfectly clear, he was hanging from the outside of his crib. Obviously, this was not the way I left him.

He has figured out how to climb out of the crib. It has been so long since I've had one in a crib...I am hoping beyond hope this is a one time occurrence. Who out there thinks I need to be frantically converting to the toddler bed?

I wouldn't convert yet. The thought of Isaiah out of a crib makes me tired! Just throw some pillows on the floor next to his crib and see what happens. Maybe he'll forget that he knows how to get out?? Ah, parenthood...gotta love it!

Being a first time mom, I have no answer to your question. BUT I will be watching closely to see what happens. We're thinking about switching Ian to a toddler bed a month or so after baby boy #2arrives, so we don't have to buy another crib for such a short period of time. We'll see what happens...
