On May 18, we celebrated Brayden's 10th birthday! I'm not sure how it is possible he is already 10. It was an entire day of celebration. May 18 landed on a Friday this year, which of course made it all the sweeter. May 18 also happened to be field day at school, so Brayden spent the entire day playing with his friends at school. No school work happenin' here. :) At the end of the school day, he celebrated with his friends over some cookie cake.
Below is the 10 picture. I started this little tradition of taking a picture of the kids holding up their fingers to indicate how old they are when Brayden was about 3. I need to go back and look at all of them. You can see for yourself how much he's grown. And his hair has grown. He loves his long hair and if I'm being honest, I like it too. He is the only boy in his class with long hair. I love that he is not afraid to stand out and be who he is. :) I'm completely off subject. Anyway, behold my 10 year old boy!
You can see positioned strategically next to him on the stairs is his birthday present...his new cell phone. He's been dying for a phone and we finally caved and got him one. I was afraid he was going to be on it constantly, but it has really been the opposite. He mostly calls and texts Scott and I and that is perfectly fine with me. Some of our texts are exceptionally funny. I snapped a screen shot of one of our texts the day after his birthday - see below. The funny part starts where I ask him (I'm in green) if he has his phone.
I am so very proud of the young man Brayden is turning into. His interests at age 10: Baseball, his friends, riding his bike, picking on his little brother, playing video games, and playing outside. He is an unbelievably picky eater and somehow survives on PB&J sandwiches, applesauce, mac n cheese, lemonade, and frozen pizza. We should have him 100% trained for the frat house by age 11. (Kidding.) I had him at the pediatrician just the other day and he measured 62 pounds. Skinny-mini.
