Summer camp at Doe River Gorge has come and gone again. It hardly seems possible we've been going for three summers now. Brayden and I were the official participants. Brayden was a camper and I served as camp nurse for the week. Thankfully, we mostly treated bee stings and gave out cough drops. :)
Brayden completed the Bullseye track this summer. He got to do all kinds of fun stuff like paintball, rifle shooting, and archery. He also had some time for worship, playing octoball, hanging with friends, and playing in the lake. :)
Brody and Scott came up on Wednesday night to have dinner with Brayden and I. Brody brought his overnight bag and his sleeping bag to spend the night with me and play on Thursday. Somehow my pictures have gotten all out of order. (I'm certain that has nothing to do with the lack of blogging frequency, right?)
Brody playing in the lake. I'm pretty sure he can swim, but we just can't seem to let go of the float.
Brayden was such a good big brother when Brody arrived. These two were headed up to play octoball. I could hardly keep myself together watching them walk away like this.
Brody and I stayed in the rail cars. Lots of drama surrounding the medical center where we usually stay, so the rail cars it was for the nurses this year. Kinda fun, but camp bunks are for the birds. I can't tell you how many times I hit my head on the bunk above me. Of course, I had to double the mattress to get any sleep. :) Brody is below climing the ladder on the rail car. Don't worry, the ladders are just for decoration. We had an acutal porch with stairs to enter the rail car.
The pictures I took of paintball didn't turn out too well. The kids were moving far to fast and I was wearing this silly helmet that warned the kids not to shoot me. Below is a picture of Brayden doing archery. Look at that form! Wow.
And here is Brayden in his bunk all set up and ready to go. I went out to his cabin mid week and it was surprisingly clean. Brayden had even made his bed! Now if we could just get him to shower at camp, we'd be golden.
Last, but not least, Brayden and his favorite camp nurse. :)
So much fun and many fun memories made there. Many thanks to my fellow nurses, Melanie and Allison for keeping it fun. Can't wait until next summer!
