Not Your Average Fruit Cake

For Easter, we went to lunch at Mamaw's house.  I don't have any pictures of the actual lunch.  What I do have is pictures of the awesome fruit cake I made to take with us.  Without further ado, here is the fruit cake in it's various forms of assembly.

This fruit cake included watermelon, cantaloupe,  pineapple, kiwi, strawberries, raspberry, blueberries, grapes, and mandarin oranges.

It was a huge hit from a photographic standpoint.  More than one person took pictures of it at Mamaw's house.  No one actually ate any of the fruit from the fruit cake.  I also had a bowl of cut up fruit next to my cake, and the crowd at Mamaw's wasn't shy about eating that fruit.  We ended up eating almost all of it.  I cut up the cake into bites and packed it in lunches over the next week.  I thought it turned out really nice.  It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun to put together.
