Fall Soccer 2015

Brody signed up to play fall soccer again this year.  He had so much fun last year playing both outdoor and indoor soccer, he wanted to play again.  So we signed him up.

Fast forward to the end of June.  We received an email from the Parks and Rec saying a coach had not been identified for our team and we needed a coach by July 9 or our kids would be issued refunds since the other teams were full. 

Fast forward to July 9.  I emailed the Parks and Rec person asking if our team had a coach.  He replied almost instantly with a no.  :(  I promptly texted Scott and told him we were going to have to coach the soccer team.  Done.

The official coaches for the Twisters are Scott and Carla Orsburn.  We are having so much fun coaching this team!  It is 8 and 9 year old boys and we've discovered this is a much better age than when we coached Brayden's 4 year old team.  :)

We've been practicing on Saturdays and Mondays.  Our Saturday practice is at 11:00am.  11:00 on a soccer field (no shade) in July in Tennessee.  It has been hot hot hot.  I had the bright idea that we should have water balloons at the end of practice.  I spent hours filling balloons, but it was worth it.  We had two full coolers of water balloons.  The kids loved it! 

We've been able to run drills and have scrimmages against each other.  Coach Scott is in the middle below directing the passing drill.

Our team has also been blessed by Pap.  He graciously agreed to sponsor our team.  With his support, we were able to get full uniforms (shirt, shorts, and socks) for our boys.  They are really sharp looking.  I can't wait to see the boys in them. 

Each uniform has the boys first name and the number of their choosing on the back.  

 

Games start on Monday, August 10.  Scott and I are both excited.  We've already had a lot of fun, but I am sure when we start playing against other teams, it will be even more enjoyable.  :)
