It all started with a trip to the craft show in Gatlinburg. Mom, Brody and I went down and enjoyed the day together looking at all the crafts and doing a little shopping.
Brody seemed to love all of the booths with candles. He actually bought a candle with his own money. Mom found a few fun things and I found a few fun ideas. One of these days, I'm going to do all kinds of crafting. ;)
So we arrived home and Brody wanted to carve some wood. His first creation was a trophy.
It has since been painted...and painted...and painted again.
After the trophy, he moved on to sewing. I decided a pillow would be an easy project for him. I found some scrap material and stuffing. We sat down together and I showed him how to put it together. He did all of the stitching and stuffing. I just helped with the pinning. His first creation was an adorable, albeit tiny, white pillow with green polka dots.
The next day, I transitioned the old playroom into a new craft room. I set up the sewing machine and brought some of the crafty stuff up from the basement.
Brody decided he wanted to make another pillow. He went through the fabric box and selected the UT fabric. We measured, cut, pinned, stitched, stuffed, and finished the edge. Voila! He now has a not-quite as small UT pillow.
When I told him I wanted to take his picture with his pillow, he had to go change his shirt. :)
He has been gone all week this week, so we haven't made any additional pillows or other kid projects. I've made one project with some of the same fabric Brody used for his first pillow.
I found a pattern for a first aid kit on Pinterest, so I tried it out. Brody picked the ribbon color for the tie. It is kinda fun. :) It has a million pockets and that's kinda nice. Anyway...
And while I'm talking recent crafts, I must post the picture of the beautiful table runner my Mom made for us.
Isn't it gorgeous? It is made out of yo-yos. Brody requested Mom make one for us. I think it turned out beautifully. The colors - blues, greens, and yellow are my favorites.
Now...if we can just keep the junk off the table...
