I've got nothing.

I'm seriously behind on blogging. I have been mostly at home, so there is really no excuse. Truthfully, I read the adventures of my blogger friend, Natascha, who just had a baby girl and Kathryn, who is suffering through bed rest and separation from 3/4 of her family for the sake of her baby boy...well, my stuff just doesn't seem that interesting. Let me see what I can come up with. (The camera is in the car, with Scott, at work...so no pictures today. Makes storytelling even more difficult.)

On November 14th, Scott, Brayden, and I ran the Speedway in Lights 5K at the Bristol Motor Speedway. I'm not sure why, but this was my favorite race so far. There are several reasons this should not have been my favorite race:

  1. I had a chest cold in full force complete with coughing and laryngitis.
  2. It started raining approximately 10 minutes before the start of the race.
  3. It rained the entire race.

So why, you are asking, was this my favorite race? Scott and I decided I would run my pace and he would run with Brayden. I set my goal to run it in 33 minutes. I totally missed the mile marker for the first mile. When I got to the second mile marker, I was at 21 minutes. I realized I could totally make the 33 minute goal I set for myself. I kept pushing and crossed the finish line in 33:12! I was pretty excited! Scott and Brayden finished in 37 minutes and change. After the race, we had some Mellow Mushroom pizza and visited Victory Lane, which Brayden thought was extra cool. It was still raining and we were cold at this point, so we headed to the car and home.

Two weeks later, on Thanksgiving morning, Scott, Brayden and I ran in the Turkey Trot 5K. The deal was Scott ran with Brayden in the earlier race, so I ran with Brayden in this race. Well...Brayden and I ran the first mile in exactly 11 minutes. Then we walked. Then Brayden wanted to sit. down. Seriously. It took us 48 minutes. Sigh. Scott, however, finished in 23:something. He's awesome! :)

We celebrated Thanksgiving with my family at Mamaw's house. I made corn souffle. Twice. The first one had a nice black exterior shell. Since the directions said "Bake" and not "Broil", I decided I would try again and possibly check the settings on the oven before putting something in to cook. Thankfully, Wal-Mart was open and able to accommodate my Thanksgiving day grocery needs. The second souffle turned out beautifully.

On Black Friday, Keith, Mom, and I did our normal Black Friday crazy early shopping. Keith and I actually spent the night bonding in front of Target. In case you're wondering, NO, I didn't get what I went after at Target. It is a rather unpleasant story, so I'd rather not re-live it. Not much was accomplished for yours truly after The Target Incident. Keith, however, scored a ton of deals.

After my not so productive shopping trip, the Orsburn family took out to Columbia to visit Scott's Mom. We spent the weekend there, playing, eating, and watching movies. We even got some time in with Chris, Carrie, Owen, and Avery. Add a stop in Sevier County on our way home for lunch with Gary and Debbie and I think we managed to hit all the family during the Thanksgiving weekend. :)

Now it is December and we are gearing up for Christmas. The Christmas decorations are up. Tep off the Shelf (The Elf on the Shelf) is here keeping up with the kiddos. A minimal amount of shopping has been done. Scott is taking off work on Friday to spend some time shopping together. Then we are headed out of town for the weekend, where hopefully we can get a little more shopping in. Honestly, as much as I love shopping, I'm most excited about just spending time together.

Winter has arrived in Johnson City. The first snow of the season occurred on December 1st. Today is December 6th, and as I type this, it is snowing outside. Brayden was on a two-hour delay going to school this morning. The temperatures are bitterly cold. It felt like 15 degrees (according to the Weather Channel) when I picked Brayden up from school. Holy. cow. Bundle up!

Last, but not least, I registered Scott and I for the Country Music Half Marathon in April. I'm super excited about running my first half marathon. Keep both of us in prayer as we train (in subzero temperatures apparently). I'm currently scouting out indoor running facilities in Johnson City, so if you know of any, please share. :)

I'll get my pictures downloaded off the camera soon. The good news is, since this post has been incredibly long, the next post needs only to consist of pictures! :)

Thank you for posting so that I have something to read! :) I can't believe you're doing a half marathon! I hope you find someplace indoor to train. Cold weather would not work for this Florida girl!
