Brody turns six!

Here is my big SIX year old boy!  Last night, I fully intended to get this post up, but I found myself looking for old birthday pictures.  Each year (since age 4 for both boys), I have taken a picture of them on their birthday holding up their age with their fingers.  I would be lying if I said looking back through the pictures didn't make me tear up a little.  I say this every year, with every birthday, but I can hardly believe Brody is already six.  I can clearly remember driving to the hospital in the wee hours of the morning to meet him for the first time.  I can't imagine my life without Brody in it.

Another birthday tradition in the Orsburn house:  On birthday eve, I make signs with construction paper and markers with various happy birthday messages.  I hang them all over the house so the birthday boy sees them everywhere when he wakes up.  I love for them to start the day with that sort of celebration.  Birthdays are the only holiday all about you - and I take full advantage to celebrate my boys on their special day.

This year, Brayden came downstairs while I was making Brody's birthday signs.  He took one of the signs I had already made and said he wanted to draw on it.  He did.  However, when I gathered the signs, I found this one....

In case you can't read it, it says:  Some words to describe Brody!  Cool, Awesome, Helpful, Friendly, Brayden's BEST friend, Gamer.

Yep, water works for Mom.

I love, love, love this.  The other birthday signs have made their way to the recycle bin.  This one I will keep forever.

Scott had class on Saturday (Brody's actual birthday), so presents got a late start.  Brody got a book, Hex bugs, an Action Cam, and some Action Cam accessories.  Below he is holding his Action Cam.  (The action cam is like a Go Pro, except it is for kids with a kid price tag.)

After he opened the wrapped presents, we opened his birthday card.  Inside there was a special message:
To find your last present, you'll just have to look
In a place in the basement where you might find a hook.
And when you find it you'll be one cool dude,
Cruising the streets with your brother and your friends too!

After reading it several times, we all took off for the basement to find the last gift.
Behold, the long board.

Brayden got a long board for Christmas, so Brody simply had to have one for his birthday.  It is almost as big as he is and he typically sits on it when he rides, but he loves it.  On Sunday, Brody was ready to hit the streets at 7:30 AM.  Obviously, I didn't let him go out that early.  He waited patiently (or not so much) before waking Brayden.  The boys spent some quality time riding their boards together.

At age six, Brody is sweet child (most of the time).  He loves school.  He has two best buddies:  Reid and Brayden.  His laugh is infectious.  He is a helpful little guy.  Hex bugs and Legos are his favorite toys.  He loves to play hide and seek.  He sings with the radio in the car (super adorable).  He is learning to fly his new remote control helicopter.  He dances to this terrible music called Dub Step.  It is safe to say he wants to do anything his big brother is doing.  He knows who he is and is not afraid to stand up for himself.  He has a broad vocabulary including some four letter words he is also not afraid to use.  (We're working on that.)  He loves his family fiercely.  He gets embarrassed when Scott or I try to give him kisses in public or (GASP!) at school.

I kinda think he's a pretty amazing kid.  :)

Happiest of birthdays to my little Brody.  Momma is so proud of the little man you are becoming.  (Stop cursing.  Keep loving - that is my favorite part.)

You are so very loved by Mom, Dad, and Brayden.
