Thanksgiving, Part 2

The Friday after Thanksgiving found us in the car headed for Nashville to spend the weekend with Scott's family.  Gary and Debbie were camping (in their camper) at Nashville Shores with Scott's Aunt and Uncle, Rick and Claudia.  On Friday, the Singletons and the Orsburns joined them for an outdoor Thanksgiving at the campground.

Wherever the Orsburn boys go, there is a sport involving a ball.  On this particular day, it involved a football.

Somehow they ended up on teams - Uncle Chris and Uncle Scott were on opposing teams.  It was fun to watch.  Brayden and Maddox played on Chris's team.  Brody and Owen played on Scott's team.

Debbie and Claudia cooked our Thanksgiving meal.  Turkey, mashed potatoes, corn...the list went on and on.  The Singletons brought mac and cheese.  The Orsburns simply brought ourselves.  ;)

Brody discovered the dog pens were fun for humans too.

We topped off the evening with some marshmallow roasting.  Claudia brought the fixin's for s'mores and she brought dark chocolate.  Yum, Yum...it was so good.  I do love s'mores.

We left about 5:30 or so to head to our next adventure:  The Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville.  I had the bright idea we would stay there - it is close-ish to Nashville Shores, so I thought it would keep us close.  Turns out Gary and Debbie left early on Saturday to avoid the storm, so it didn't really matter where we stayed.

The Opryland Hotel was an adventure.   It is a beautiful hotel - complete with three huge indoor atriums including intricate landscaping, tasteful decoration, restaurants, shopping...it is like its own little city.  The day after Thanksgiving was a busy time at the Opryland Hotel.  I don't know why it didn't occur to us it would be busy, but it honestly didn't.  Sometimes, I wonder how we survive.  :)

We arrived in the dark in the rain.  We were herded in the parking lot to the self park and ended up quite a ways away from the door.  Or, at least, the door we found.  We entered through a side door and then had to try to find our way to the lobby to check in.  Keeping in mind we are carrying our luggage...we learned that just because you work at a hotel doesn't mean you know where the front desk is.  We eventually found the check in desk.  The next part of the adventure:  they didn't have a room ready for us.  Alright....it is 6pm.  How do you not have a room for us at 6pm?

Long story short, we got a room.  We stayed two nights.  Once we got settled, it was fine.  The boys thought it was pretty cool.  Will we stay there again?  Probably not.  We can put it as a check on the adventure list and move on.

Brody and I did some exploring on Saturday morning.  I took some pictures of him.  We also did family pictures.  They haven't been uploaded yet but I will share them when I get them uploaded.  :)

We spent some time with Grammy (Karen) and Bob on Saturday at their new house.  The Singleton's joined us.  It was still kinda dreary, but we did manage to spend a little time outside.

Playing football, of course.  :)  My pictures are awful, so I'm only sharing one.

After Grammy's, we went to a trampoline park with the Singleton family.  The kids had so much fun!  Like my pictures from Grammy's house, the pictures from the trampoline park didn't turn out so great.  You'll just have to imagine it.

We capped off the evening at the Singleton house eating pizza and watching football.  It was probably my favorite part of the entire day.  Chris, Carrie, Scott, and I hung out in the living room and talked and laughed.  The kids played upstairs.  Occasionally, one of them would come down to complain about one of the others - they are more like siblings than cousins sometimes.  :)

It was a fun weekend.  I will post our family pictures as soon as I get them uploaded.  For now, here is a sneak peek selfie from my phone, featuring Brody and myself.  :)
