Brayden, Brody, and I went to the grocery store this morning. On our way home, while stopped at a red light, Brayden asked what the bench on the side of the road was. So...I (seeing this as a teachable moment) begin to explain the bench is for the bus stop....and because I do not want Brayden to confuse the school bus with the mass transit bus, I continue..."This bus is for adults to ride to work, or maybe to the grocery store. This bus doesn't take you to school like the yellow school bus does." Brayden is always out for adventure, and decides he wants to ride the bus to the grocery store. (Um....no....I don't think so.) Before I have time to respond to his request, he says, "You used to ride a bus like that to the grocery store when you were an adult, but now you are a mommy...just my mommy."
I'm with Brayden....there is a distinct difference between being an adult and being a mommy. An adult would hop on the bus and head on over to where he/she needs to go. A mommy sees a bus as a place with lots of strangers and lots of germs - both of which are surely out to get her kids.
Just my funny little Brayden story of the day.
