Today was the beginning of a new journey. As a family, we went to register Brayden for kindergarten. Here's how it went:
I am standing in front of a woman I've never met before...
"We're here to register him (pointing at Brayden) for kindergarten."
She says, "Are you excited?" I'm sure she was talking to Brayden....and indeed he was excited....but I had to reply "Half of us are." And suddenly, without warning, I have this huge lump in my throat that is making it painful to swallow or breathe. I am trying not to let tears well up in my eyes. Two deep breaths...I am OK. She hands me the forms to fill out. In 5 minutes or less I have the paperwork filled out, she's copied the birth certificate, and we are all registered. I made Brayden stand in front of the sign so I could take his picture. He was totally embarrassed and did not want to do it. His Daddy told him to make his Mom happy and pose for the picture. Oh, dear. I have turned into one of those Mothers.
Kindergarten starts on August 13th. Go ahead, mark your calendars, and send the Kleenex to Riverfront Drive. I'm going to need it.
