Brayden-isms

Yesterday, we spent 3 hours at the pool. Yes, 3 hours. Brayden swam for 3 hours (minus the 10 minute breaks at the end of each hour.) Brody had some pool time too. He really likes the water. He also had a nap at the pool, safely tucked away in the stroller in the shade. Here is a snipit of a conversation we had at the pool yesterday....

Lifeguard: blowing the whistle "Break."

Brayden: getting out of the pool, "Mom, what'd ya do with those pretzels?"

Mom: "They're in our bag."

We arrive at our table. Brayden meticulously spreads his towel over his chair. He climbs up and makes himself comfortable.
Brayden: "Mom, how 'bout we break out those pretzels?"

Mom: giggles....as I get out the pretzels and hand them to Brayden I notice his little feet. "Brayden, your feet look like prunes."

Brayden: "I'm just getting old, Mom."

He's so silly.

Continuing on the path of Brayden-isms this morning....

I have been trying to teach Brayden to be responsible for his things - i.e. cleaning up after himself. Yes, I realize he is a boy and this is bound to be a forever-on-going process, but I still try.

Yesterday, Georgia was a tired girl. The kids spent some time together at the pool, then wanted to play after dinner. They ended up getting out Georgia's bikes. They played for a little while, then Georgia decided she wanted to go in. I told Brayden we needed to put Georgia's bikes away...His response: "I'm not her maid, Mom." I turned to Sherry (Georgia's Mom) and said, "Yep, I'm responsible for that one. He heard that from me." :-) Since I've been trying to get Brayden to pick up after himself, I have proclaimed more than once, "I am your Mommy, not your maid!"

Kids don't forget anything. Guess that one came back to bite me in the butt.

And lastly today, as I report on all adventures related to Brayden, he painted my toenails this morning. While Brody was napping, I decided to use the opportunity, since I'm usually too tired at night after the kids have gone to bed to do it. So, I asked Brayden to pick a color for me. I know, I should have known better. He actually wanted to do the painting....not just picking out a color. He also found it to be far more fun to pick out several colors. I am leaving it....at least for today. Here you can see his masterpiece. By the way - he kept telling me, while painting my toes, "Mom, you didn't know I am a makeup artist." Now, where on earth has he heard that? His Daddy is probably going to kill me for letting him do this, but it was funny.
