Moments

Drum-roll please....Brayden is officially a bike rider! Saturday was spent practicing. By Sunday, he was riding solo. No training wheels....no holding him up....just Brayden, pedaling his little heart out! (And Dad running close by in case his grab-Brayden-before-he-falls services are required.) It is another one of those things for Brayden. He decided he wanted to do it, and now he does. He's gotten so confident that by Sunday night, he told Scott he wanted him to come chase him while he rode. As usual, Mom and Dad are so proud, we can hardly contain ourselves.

Monday morning brought a new adventure to the Orsburn house. Summer camp. Brayden started his first ever day camp at the Adventure Science Center this morning. I was terribly worried, since he had already proclaimed he did not want to go. He even called out in the middle of the night and when I arrived in his room, He told me he did not want to go to camp by himself. As you can imagine, Mommy was not exceptionally pleased to have to solve this problem in the wee hours of the morning. I tucked him back in with little or no explanation. This morning, however, brought a different Brayden out of bed. He was excited! We ran through the morning routine (must remember to work on that before we start kindergarten so it runs a little smoother), and arrived at camp. We checked Brayden in and he got to play until they called for the campers. It was actually a little humorous. Brayden seemed worried he was going to miss it - he kept telling me "We need to find my group." and "We need to find my kids." Since he seemed concerned, we went to sit out front where all the workers were so he wouldn't miss anything. I also think I was starting to get on his nerves. I ran down the list:
Mom: "Do you have your money?"
Brayden: "Yes, Mom."
Mom: "Remember, $1 for the drink machine, $1 for the candy machine."
Brayden: "I know."
Mom: "When they bring the lunches, look for your box, OK?"
Brayden: "OKAY, Mom." clearly annoyed that I was running through this list again.
Mom: "I'll be right out here at 4 o'clock when camp is over; just look for me, OK?"
Brayden: totally disinterested now...."Ok"
So they called for the campers about this same time. Yes, I did....I cried, just a little. He just walked away. Then he remembered, turned around and gave Momma a kiss.
I'll see you later, little man.
