The Orsburn family spent the weekend at the Bristol/Kingsport KOA camping with some of our favorite people! We joined Keithy & Becca, Cecil & Brenda, Stella, Sharon, Debbie, Dylan, and Tyler for a camping weekend. It was....um....interesting.
This was my first time ever camping. (At least, as far as I know, but my memory isn't very good.) I discovered pretty quickly that I am a city girl. One of my first questions - "Did you guys spray yourselves down to keep the bugs away?" They looked at me like I was crazy. I know for certain this was the first time Brayden and Brody have been camping. Scott said this would be a good introduction trip for me, since we were staying in Becca's Mom's camper. The Fun Finder! Behold our sleeping arrangements...
Thanks to Becca for the picture! (I stole it from her blog!)
I'm not sure what makes my children miserable to sleep with, but they are. The first night, Brody was ALL OVER THE PLACE! At one point, I woke up because I felt like I was smothering....I was laying on my side, Brody had his back to my face and one leg kicked up over my shoulder. The second night was a bit more restful simply because poor little Bro was too tired to move! I think Keithy had a time sleeping with Brayden too. Sorry, Uncle Keith!
But even with the sleeping-with-my-children issues, we had a great time! On Saturday, we joined up with Adam & Lacee on the lake. I decided about halfway through our boating adventure that it was truly a test of how much my heart could take before it just gave out. Brayden was apprehensive enough about the water to keep me calm. Brody, on the other hand, was dying to experience it first hand. He went in with Uncle Keith and lasted all of five seconds before he was back out and in the safety of Momma's arms! :-) Here are some pictures of my little swimmers...

I was thrilled when Brody decided he would rather drive the boat, than swim around it.

We spent Saturday evening at the campground. Stella and Sharon cooked in the dutch oven over the fire. It was super cool and very tasty. They also made breakfast Sunday morning. I was totally impressed! It was a lot of fun....and we had great company. I'm not sure how we fell in with such a great group of friends, but I feel so blessed to have these people in my life.
Here are a few more pictures of the weekend...

Looks like quite the adventure. Michael and I did a fair amount of car camping before Ian and we're itching to get back into it again. Although I had to laugh the other day when Michael told me he'd made casual plans with some friends to go camping in the fall. When I'm six months + pregnant. Love ya, babe, but I DON'T THINK SO! He gave me a sheepish grin and said, "Well I'll take Ian and..you can.....um..." I looked at him with a simple reply that said it all - "You'd just leave me behind, then!?" Nice. Anyway, we'll get back into it one of these days, although I'll be apprehensive the first time doing tent-car-camping with children under the age of 3. I'll check back in with you again on that one later. :).
