Mommy Rantings

I HATE baby shots. Immunizations. Whatever you want to call them. I. hate. them. I know, I know....you're thinking the immunization is better than your precious baby getting pertussis...or diptheria...or any of the diseases protected from the pneumococcal injection. The logical side (and nurse side) of me agrees wholeheartedly. The Mommy side of me thinks this is pure torture inflicted on infants and their mothers. Shouldn't there be a better way?
Yes, I know my post yesterday seemed so cheery about our pediatrician visit. That was before I was supposed to have an anniversary 'date' with my husband. Brayden skipped off to Aunt Carrie's house without even looking back. "Bye Mom and Dad." Then it started....Brody was miserable. He screamed and screamed. Tylenol - down the hatch - nothing. Seriously....we haven't had crying like that since the colic days. He's had a touch of fever too. This morning he seems to be feeling better (knock on wood). He still seems a little warm, but I can actually touch his legs without eliciting a response like I might be ripping them off. I am so thankful he is feeling better.
So my anniversary 'date' consisted of Jim and Nicks takeout at 8:30 last night at our kitchen table. I'm sure it is one that will go down in the memory books. I like to think we had a 'private affair'...an intimate dinner....except Aunt Carrie and the 4 kids were upstairs!
I don't mind missing my date for my babies, but I still hate baby shots.
