A New Beginning

Kindergarten has arrived! Today was our first day. I say 'our first day' because it truly was a family affair. Brody got things started for us at 3:30 this morning. From then until 5 AM, he thought it best if Mommy was awake....then Daddy. But I digress...
I coaxed Brayden out of bed early. He was a little slow getting started, but after he got going, there was no stopping him. He got himself dressed, got his backpack, got his lunch out of the fridge and he was ready to go. Nevermind we still had 3o minutes before it was time to leave! He was so excited he wouldn't even eat breakfast. I truly hope he can keep that excitement about school for all of his days.
Mom, Dad, and Brayden loaded up in the car and headed for school. (Brody was a Ms. Sherry's house getting spoiled rotten.) We took two cameras with us, just in case. (I only took one camera into school.) Brayden was the first one in his class to arrive in his classroom. He found his locker, and his seat. He was a little timid at first, but it didn't take long for him to warm up. Scott and I stood close by until the principal came over the intercom to tell the parents it was time to leave. (Hint, hint all you kindergarten parents with cameras....get out!)

There were a few misty-eye moments for Mom, but no all out boo-hoo-crying. Brayden didn't cry at all. Dad was maybe a little misty-eyed, but I doubt he'd admit it. :-) I must say, it went far, far better than Brayden's first day of daycare.

So....without further ado....on to the pictures from the first day!

Wakin' up is hard to do...

Off to school....

Have you ever seen a cuter kindergartner?

Yep, I've got this school thing down!

What an emotional roller coaster it has been....He seemed to big and so little all at the same time.....so independent....so smart....so confident. I wonder if Brayden will ever do anything that doesn't give me that lump in my throat and swelling in my chest?

Scott and I are so very proud.

I know "this is the start of something good....don't you agree?"

Precious! I only wish he was at my school!
