To the Zoo!

Saturday the Orsburn's loaded up and headed out to the Nashville Zoo. It was a lot of fun. We got to see the giraffes, elephants, tigers, wild dogs...you get the idea. I think Brayden had a really good time. This is the first time he's been to the zoo that he was actually old enough to really enjoy it. I think the last time we went, he was about 3. He really liked the petting area....he got to feed a goat. He wasn't the least bit afraid.

He also loved the bird exhibit. He got a little cup of nectar, and we went into the sanctuary (I guess that's what you call it) to feed the birds. There is a sign outside that warns you - these birds will land on you. Do not enter if you don't want the birds on you. OK....I am okay with that. I had a pet birds growing up....it's fine. Really. So we go in. I was reconsidering my no-fear attitude about the time three of them swooped past missing my head by inches. Um...maybe not. But Brayden seem to be having such fun, we stayed and I kept my new found fear of birds to myself. Brayden really wanted to 'hold' one of the birds. So, off we go, in pursuit of a bird that will sit on Brayden's arm. Well....of course, he's too wiggly for the bird to trust him. Yep, you got it. I got the bird to step up on my arm first, then moved it over to Brayden's arm. He was sooooooooooo excited to have a bird sitting on his arm. I was so proud of him for being so still while the bird was there. The bird stayed until it polished off the little cup of nectar Brayden had in his hand, then it took off. I was so very, very sad the camera was outside with Dad and Brody.

We finished off the day at the zoo by visiting the jungle gym. And I don't mean like in-your-backyard jungle gym. I mean....this thing was monsterous. Gigantic. Brayden and Dad went in to play and came back out a little bit later with Dad out of breath insisting it was Mom's turn to play with Brayden. :-) It was a lot of fun.

(The above photo by Brayden. He confiscated the camera and played photographer for a while. I think he did a pretty good job!)
