Weekend Update

Yet another installment of the Orsburn Family's weekend update...

Friday night Owen and Avery came over to play so their Mommy and Daddy could have a date night. (Yay for date nights!) Scott and I, being the courageous souls we are, decided it would be fun to take the kids bowling. Ok...do the math with me, will you.....2 semi-adults + 4 kids + 1 bowling alley = utter chaos. The kids had fun. I mean, a lot of fun. Brayden won the first game with a whopping 123 (which beats most of my bowling scores.) Avery won the second game. It was adorable to watch. Probably not so adorable for the folks trying to bowl anywhere near us, since the kids had no idea what to do when it wasn't their turn. Scott and I tried to keep all of them in check, but when you have 3 to chase and 1 to hold, you are outnumbered. The good news is fun was had by all, so we'll probably do it again! Sadly, I forgot the camera, so you'll just have to use your imagination.

Saturday was the fall festival/halloween party in the neighborhood. Brayden was soooooo excited about getting to wear his halloween costume. It took a few minutes to convince him to wear his new costume instead of his spiderman costume from last year. Scott talked/threatened him into it. :-) I was soooooo excited to get Brody all dressed up in his costume. For those of you that do not know the story of Brody's costume: When Brayden was tiny (5 months old) I was a much craftier Mom. I decided to sew Brayden a costume. I made him a pumpkin outfit, complete with a green romper and hat. He was adorable. So now it is Brody's turn to wear the pumpkin. He is every bit as adorable as his brother was when he wore it. Unfortunately, the hat did not fit Brody's big ol' head. See what you think - here are the boys before we left for the party...

The party was a lot of fun. There were two inflatables - one giant slide and one basketball/football game. Brayden played mostly on the slide. I took Brody down the slide twice. I couldn't tell if he liked it or not. He wasn't giggling, but he wasn't screaming either. Brayden, the little daredevil, went down the slide in every way possible - feet first, head first, on his belly, on his back, spinning, jumping from the top of it....if he could imagine it, he tried it. The Singleton family was there too. Avery was dressed as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz....complete with blue-bowed pig tails, a little basket and puppy dog. I swear, she was the cutest Dorothy I've ever seen. I wish I would have gotten a picture. Owen didn't want to wear his costume to the party - building up the suspense for halloween, I'm sure. I'll get some pictures of them on Wednesday.

Here are a couple of shots from the party before the camera battery died:

Sunday was just another Sunday - the usual - grocery store, mowing the yard, bowling. I have to give a bowling update here. I haven't been doing it since we slipped out of first place, but yesterday was noteworthy. Scott and I decided on a friendly bet - 15 minute back rub to the winner of each game (we play three games per night), and 15 minutes to the person with this highest score. This was Scott's idea. He'll never bet me again - he now owes me fourty-five minutes. I simply cannot wait. :-) I won two games, he won one, and I beat him by one skinny little point on our final score. Forgive me, I have to gloat. This just doesn't happen, so I have to relish in it while it's happening. Sorry, honey!

I think that pretty much wraps up the weekend. I have to send a big Thank You to Nan and Pap for all the halloween goodies. Pap came to keep the kids last night while Scott and I bowled. He showed up with a box full of goodies - including some of Nan's homemade treats. Thanks you guys!
