Random thoughts by Carla

OK, the hate mail can cease (Natascha! :-))....I am posting an update. I seriously meant to blog all weekend long, but it just didn't happen. I have no good excuse for it. So today I tried to get on from work (since it is still terribly stimulating). Can you believe they do not allow employees to get on 'social' webpages? I guess that means no Facebook-ing from work either. Geez. I'll have to resort to reading the news and weather, which would probably be good for me, since I don't get any of that at home. Between morning doses of VH1 and Nickeloden, I can hardly squeeze in a minute for a weather update.

Speaking of the weather, it is FREEZING! That can only mean one thing....snow will be falling soon....and snow = ski season! I am so excited about ski season this year because we live close enough to ski slopes to make a Saturday afternoon run over to the slopes. So, winter, bring it on! :-)

Saturday, Brayden was having a particularly difficult time. I was leaving to go to the grocery store and opted not to take Brayden and his six-year-old-smart-mouth with me. He cried. I left him behind with Scott. I was a bit concerned about what condition I might find the two of them in when I returned home, but they were happily working together cleaning the bathroom. (Totally not what I expected.) Scott apparently took the opportunity to turn Brayden's left-behindness into a teachable moment. He had Brayden come up with a list of things he liked to do, and a list of 'rules' he needed to follow to do those things. I am telling ya'll about this because when I read the list I about fell on the floor laughing. Most of them were typical....then under the "Things Brayden Likes to Do" section was "jump out of a plane." Uh. Ok....We've never done that, or anything even remotely similar, but whatever. One other funny from the list under the "Rules" section, Brayden said, "Don't turn off the TV when Mom and Dad are watching football." Deep down, he's a good kid. :-)

Tonight, we were blessed with the presence of great friends for dinner. Keith, Adam, and Lacee joined us for some of Scott's famous chili. (Seriously, Scott's chili is the absolute best.) After dinner, we sat around and watched Brayden, Uncle Keith, Scott, and Adam play wild. Lacee and I left and went to Wal-Mart (I still live too close for my own good.) When we came back, we opened the door to find this....

Brody had curled himself up into Uncle Adam's lap and nodded off to sleep. It was too adorable not to catch on camera.

By the way, notice Brody's favorite slippers. He calls them the "Bob-bob" slippers. Bob-bob is Brody-ese for SpongeBob. I swear he is so darn cute, I can hardly stand it.

Brody also had a little trim of his do last Thursday. Yea, I did it myself, without help, meaning it is about 300 different lengths. It doesn't matter though....it's straight across the front and the rest of it is so curly it doesn't matter. Everytime I cut his hair, I am terrified I am going to cut the curl right out of it. Ironic, because I have spent most of my life fighting my curly hair until I just gave up.

I think that is probably enough babbling for tonight. Sorry if I lost any of you. I am going to try to do better. I'm starting to get used to the new schedule and am not near as sleepy as I have been. See you soon!

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Don't pressure yourself, though, I really do truly understand. You guys'll get your rhythm and you'll be back to regular blogging before you know it. When baby #2 comes along I'll hand ours over to Michael for a while, like we did with Ian, and then I'll resume again sometime thereafter. But I can GUARANTEE that it won't be as often as I write now. I'll be napping ;). Um...hopefully ;).

Oh goodness, I think I just wet myself. I was having a good chuckle at the thought of Brayden getting to jump out of the plane because he didn't disrupt the football watching when Natascha threw in her little joke about napping after the baby is born. That pushed me over the edge. You girls are too funny! ;)
