Stop and take five

Going to work has brought an awesome new tradition into my life. I thought it would be appropriate to share it today, on Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Every morning after the morning rush of getting myself and three boys ready to face the day with breakfast, jackets, lunches, backpacks, and cell phones, I stop. I drop little Bro off at school and then I stop. I get myself out of the car, even if it is freezing or raining. I have found a wonderful secret spot where the scenery is breathtaking....and I just take five minutes. Five minutes to be thoughtful of others. Sometimes I use this time to pray for others....or just to be serene and quiet. Sometimes I think about the day. Sometimes I make wishes (because I happen to believe in wishes). Sometimes I count my blessings. The point is it gives me five minutes to calm from the morning rush before the workday rush begins. My days are better. My mind is better.

I encourage you, on this Thanksgiving day, to find your five minutes. Find yourself a place to nourish your soul for five minutes a day. Find a place to be thankful for the many blessings that surround us each day. Stop and take five.
